Dan Nichols is one of the most popular and influential Jewish musicians in North America, performing over 200 events a year. His music has become an important part of the Reform Jewish movement, with synagogue youth and clergy alike incorporating it into their curriculum and services. His last two albums have garnered critical acclaim and a legion of growing fans. Songs like "L'takein (The Na Na Song)," "B'tzelem Elohim," "Kehilah Kedoshah," and "My Heart is in the East" are some of the most popular songs in Reform Judaism today.

1969    Born in Indianapolis, IN
1989 Fronted the alternative rock band, The Olskies, for 6 years
1992    Bachelor of Music, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill
1995 Formed the Jewish rock band, Eighteen
1996 Eighteen released first CD, Life
  Music Specialist for three years at Westminster School in Nashville, TN. The school serves students with learning differences.
2001      Eighteen released Be Strong, the band's most popular CD to date
2002 Eighteen released Kol HaShabbat (The Voice of the Sabbath)
   Featured performer for the prestigious adult enrichment conference, Limmud, in Nottingham, England
2003      Music Director and featured performer at NFTY Nationals in Washington, DC
  Artist-in-Residence for the NAA conference (North American Alliance for Informal Jewish Educators)
2003

NFTY President's Award presented "In recognition of your outstanding commitment to Reform Jewish Youth."

Other Notables
  • Attended URJ (formerly UAHC) Goldman Union Camp in Indianapolis, IN for 10 years as a camper and since 1994 has returned yearly to facilitate as the camp's artist-in-residence.

  • For the past five years, Dan has served as artist-in-residence for High Holidays and Madrichim retreats at Temple Shir Shalom in West Bloomfield, MI.

  • For the past four years, Dan has been on the faculty for Hava NaShira, a national song-leading program sponsored by the URJ, which serves over 180 rising song leaders throughout North America.

  • Served as artist-in-residence at all 12 URJ camps.
